Water management was a key design challenge for this project. For the REC.ON Spain ecovillage in Bolaimi, we designed and implemented a proprietary system that directly addresses the semi-arid climate of Andalusia in the Los Velez comarca. The solution combines an irrigation system with a graywater and rainwater recycling system.
Key system features:
- Greywater Recovery: Collects and filters water from sinks, showers, and washing
machines, then reuses it on-site. - Rainwater Harvesting: A dedicated system for collecting rainwater, a rare and
valuable resource in the region. - Gravity Technology: A proprietary system that utilizes the natural slope of the
terrain, minimizing energy consumption. - Underground Retention: Specialized tanks that perform both filtration and
storage functions. - Recirculating Irrigation: Treated water is returned directly to the ecosystem,
nourishing trees and vegetation without additional burden on local water
resources.
Portfolio Options
- Design and implementation of a proprietary water management system adapted to the semi-arid climate of Andalusia
- Integration of greywater and rainwater recycling with a gravity-based irrigation system
- Creation of a closed-loop water cycle reducing dependency on local water resources
