Revitalization of Old Goat Farm

The project involved the comprehensive revitalization of a former goat farm located in a village in the Los Vélez region. The complex of over a century-old residential and outbuildings was transformed into a modern residential and cultural space, respecting Andalusia’s rural heritage. The scope of work also included the implementation of innovative ecological solutions, such as rainwater and graywater recycling, the use of natural building materials (clay, bamboo, and reclaimed wood), and the implementation of upcycling installations, including a tree platform and a permaculture garden.

Currently, the former farmhouse and outbuildings function as a residential complex, combining co-living facilities, an artist-in-residence program, and a contemporary art gallery. The
project combines living, working, and true ecology in a unique rural and mountainous landscape.

Scope of implementation:

•  Comprehensive project coordination from start to finish, including collaboration with a local architect and obtaining all required building permits.
• Language support: Full communication and translation services (Spanish-English-Polish)
• Restoration and conservation of historic buildings made of clay, bamboo, wood, and traditional Andalusian decorative elements
• Structural adaptation and interior design of former farm buildings into utility rooms and shared living spaces
• Transformation of selected farm animal buildings into contemporary art galleries, providing a platform for exhibitions, cultural events, and creative exchange
• Modernization of technical infrastructure, including new, innovative water systems – i.e., graywater and rainwater recycling
• Implementation of ecological strategies through the use of natural materials

Interior design:

• Custom-made furniture and lighting by REC.ON, made from reclaimed wood and metal recovered during the renovation
• This project demonstrates how an abandoned goat farm can be transformed into a vibrant and cultural venue, combining respect for Andalusian heritage, social life, artistic creativity, and real environmental standards for the 21st century
